Rick Barnes
President
Rick Barnes began his career in 1995 with ING in Augusta, GA. His first year in the business, Rick made the President’s Club top 25 agents within the company. While spending 10 years with ING, Rick led branch offices in GA, NC, KY, and VA. During that time, he managed, trained and supervised career agents that helped him rank as one of the top 10 offices in the company in every state. In 2005, Rick began working with Bankers Life & Casualty Company where he was the top agent in his 1st year. In 2006, Rick helped lead Bankers Life to the #1 agency in the nation as he headed up two satellite offices as well as part of the Charlotte branch.
Rick's ultimate goal was to build the best insurance agency in Charlotte, NC that used only top rated companies in the 4 major areas of concern to the senior market such as Life insurance, Long term care, Medicare Supplements and Annuities. In 2007, Rick opened the doors to the perfect insurance agency which is now known as Barnes Financial Group, LLC.
Before entering into the insurance business, Rick was a driver for UPS in Augusta, GA. He also attended Augusta State University and Truett McConnell Junior College where he was on a collegiate scholarship playing baseball. Having been raised in Elberton, GA, Rick now resides on Lake Norman in Cornelius, NC with his wife Maura and their daughters Ella and Olivia, and they are expecting their third daughter in February 2010. Family, golf and boating are Rick’s hobbies when he is not working.
Rick feels his agency creates the perfect culture with superior options, not only for the mature clients but for the agents that join him in his vision.

Valerie Pelick

I was born and raised on Long Island, New York. I graduated from West Hempstead high school and then attended The State University of Farmingdale – both in New York. I have been in the Charlotte area for 12 years. I am married with two wonderful daughters. My hobbies are reading and sewing.
Business Philosophy:
I am responsible for hosting career briefings in our office where I provide an overview of Barnes Financial Group, LLC. I truly enjoy sharing this information with people who have a desire to work in well established agency where they will be well compensated and rewarded.
Working with the senior market is a privilege and has many rewards. We have the unique ability to help our seniors with many of the complex issues and concerns that they are facing through education, building relationships, and providing exceptional customer service.
I am also in charge of the back office support for our agents we implement proven systems and guide the agents through a series of steps reinforced with strong graining and support achieve the highest level of excellence in everything we do.

I was raised in the upper most western part of PA in the city of Erie which sits on one of our Great Lakes. For several years I worked for a Specialty Wholesale Distributer as an Assistant Director of Program sales and in 2002 decided it was time to move away from the cold, after throwing a dart on the map I ended moving to South Charlotte and love the area I now have been living for almost 8 years. Though not having any children of my own I come from a very large family with 11 nieces and nephews that respect me as a parent, and that I will refer to as my children. In my spare time I enjoy traveling, reading, swimming and spending down time with family and friends.

The organization of Barnes Financial Group, LLC is dedicated to serving seniors in the states of NC and SC. All of our agents are extremely knowledgeable of the challenges facing the senior community. We are a leader in the industry and carefully review and select only the best companies to align ourselves with to assist our clients. Therefore, we represent our clients, not the companies we use. Our clients are the most important relationship we have and their needs always override those of any insurance company we represent.
My division at Barnes Financial Group, LLC. more specifically specializes in the areas of Medicare/Medicare Supplements and Final Expense. I have come to realize that many people have not been properly informed about how Original Medicare and Medicare supplements work or how to plan for their final expenses. As the manager of our Medicare and final expense division, my agents communicate with the senior community everyday to assist them with their insurance needs. We take what we do very seriously and always leave our clients in a much better financial position than they were in.
Belinda Harris

I was born and raised in Salisbury, MD. It is a small town located on the Eastern Shore of Maryland and is about thirty minutes from the beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. I graduated from Wicomico Senior High School in Salisbury and attended Hampton University in Hampton, VA where I majored in music education. I am the mother of a wonderful son by the name of Markel. We live in the University area in Charlotte and love that part of the city. My hobbies include tae kwon do, singing and watching movies with my son on the weekends.

Kevin Kiger

I am from Hickory, NC and have resided in this area for most of my life. I graduated from Western Carolina University with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management. After a successful career as a consultant for an office equipment distributor for 11 years, I decided to pursue a career in which I could help people rather than businesses. My hobbies include exercise, golf, and spending time with my family.

Andrew Rutherford

I was born in Harrisburg, PA where I lived until attending James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. After graduating with my Bachelors degree in Kinesiology I studied in Columbia at the University of South Carolina to receive my Master’s degree in Sport and Entertainment Management. While attending, I worked as a Graduate Assistant for multiple professors and as a Marketing Assistant for South Carolina Athletics. I am married to my high school sweetheart Marie and we have one dog named Maple. In my spare time I coach youth soccer, play sports and go boating with my family.
Business Philosophy:
With my time at Barnes Financial Group, LLC, I have come to realize that the senior market is one of the most under serviced demographic in the country. As a specialist in the senior market, I assist retirees in evaluating their retirement goals by creating options to help improve their financial well being. By enhancing assets, providing greater medical coverage and providing financial stability, Barnes Financial Group, LLC is creating an environment of security that many seniors and retirees haven’t been a part of in a long time. Here at BFG, we take this position very seriously and provide our clients the best service and knowledge possible.
Michael Biggs

I was born in Santa Monica, California and raised in Malibu. I graduated from Loyola High School in Los Angeles, and then attended the University of Southern California where I majored in International Relations. I currently live in the Huntersville area and have been working in the Charlotte area since April 2008. I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter, Aricelia, and 2 wonderful cats, Max and Miles. I have a girlfriend that I spend most of my time with. My hobbies include: fishing, hiking, and camping.
Business Philosophy:
I have come to realize that most people have spent more time planning a vacation than planning for their retirement. I specialize in the senior market as a Senior Market Specialist with Barns Financial Group. I visit with 15 to 20 households per week to hope seniors recognize their retirement goals and to help them protect their assets. Many clients realize they have not planned thoroughly and see the value of addressing all of their retirement concerns.
